Superman: Man of Style

My entry to the Project: Rooftop competition to redesign Big Blue. Click to Embiggin'.
The concept behind it is that THIS is the uniform that Martha Kent would sew for her son. She would not sew her only son a uniform out of vulcanized rubber and spandex. No she would sew it using only the finest raw heavy-weight selvedge denim. Later on, after he'd left Kansas, saved the world, gone to space, and learned about kryptonian technology would he adopt the traditional Stretchy material. But until then this is a uniform that a Kansan Mother would be proud to see her son wear. A hero to the working man.

The whole thing is constructed like hybrid coveralls/overalls. The top buttons on the chest attach the front "bib" and the cape (which is made of lightweight calf leather).
The Underoos are replaced with a weight lifting belt (well a mother would worry about her son
lifting trains the way he does)

Miss Masque

Another redesigned. This one done for the "Remake/Remodel" challenge thread on Warren Ellis' old forum The Engine. Warren would through out old Pulp characters for the forumites to reinvision. This was my take on a female Shadow ripoff called Miss Masque.
I ditched the domino mask first thing in the design and then struggled to find a type of mask not already used in comics. I decided that the traditional Day of the Dead Calavera mask was a perfect choice. This one has night-vision goggles, btw. The jacket is inspired by a Ralph Lauren pea coat. See, formal fashion meets street wars. New Pulp.

Check out the esteemed Mr Ryan Kelly's excellent redesign from the thread here.

Enjoy: KA-POW!

A Batman riff. The "Ka-Pow" is one of the original onomatopoeia sign from the the Adam West series. I personally think nothing as awesome as exploding sound effects can ever be lost permanently to time. This is my attempt to make it contemporary.

Miracleman

Or Marvelman. I am partial to the American version, mostly because it's less derivative.
But whatevs.

Oh and, if anyone is keeping track, that was one day less than an entire year between post number one and post number 2. Wow.
